Baihetan Dam is expected to put all units into operation in July 2022

On September 22, the water storage elevation in front of the dam of Baihetan Dam exceeded 810 meters, and the six flood discharge surface outlets of the dam overflowed for the first time, which indicates that the dam surface outlets are ready for flood discharge. It is reported that the first batch of units of Baihetan Dam have been put into operation for power generation, and it is expected that all units will be put into operation for power generation in July 2022. It is also reported that Baihetan Dam has the characteristics of "narrow valley, high water head and huge discharge", with a total hydraulic thrust of 16.5 million tons and a maximum discharge of 30200 m3/s from the dam body. With this flood discharge speed, the entire West Lake can be filled in 8 minutes.
